Today Saturday July 10th, 2010 Jan Spicer and myself met with Joyce Watson to show her the progress on the station, but most importantly for her to admire the art work by ourselves and year 9 pupils.
Joyce was suitably impressed and had the following to say:
“I think it’s an amazing transformation and lets everyone take pride in Harlech Station. What makes the project such a great success is the ladies of Harlech WI managed to engage people of all ages in the community to work together to do something to make their town a better place for everyone to live.”

Dear all,
I am so angry, I have just spoken to my Auntie in Llanfair and she told me that in the Cambrian News it says that the station has already been vandalised and that someone who lives in the bungalows was hit by a stone !!! When you began adopting the station, people I spoke to who live in and around Harlech said they where worried this would happen, I remember saying it to Jan S, Edwina and Myfanwy when we had coffee together last year. I dont get my copy of the Cambrian News until Saturday but I am seriously thinking of writing to them. Maybe someone should speak to Elfyn Llywd perhaps he can do something. It seems the station has been notorious for youngsters hanging around drinking, smoking and doing drugs behind the shelters for years, so its not new. Now I think it is time they had more policing or CCTV cameras to try and catch the culprits. Although if I understood correctly, the railway police didnt want to know ??? I feel so sad for you all, the hard work you have put in to it, plus the school children and the Coleg as well. Did it happen before Amanda went in to hospital ?? What are you planning to do, will you repair the damage? I sincerely hope you do and that you wont let a bunch of hooligans spoil everything you have done.
Best wishes

Jenny bach, don’t stress! The vandalism, minor as it was was carried out while we were still painting and nothing too serious. Touch wood we havent had any further vandalism since.
Both Gerwyn and David (arriva) will be attending a meeting tomorrow evening where both the railway police and North Wales police will be present and our station will be part of the agenda as they will be asking them both to keep an extra eye out for any one miss behaving on the platforms so hopefully this should help.
To be fair to the local children and youths, those we have spoken to whilst painting were all really pleased to see the station being done up and I know the children who helped with the art work were so proud of what they had achieved that I dont think any of them would dare touch the murals.
Lets hope this was a one off…
Keep well and spk soon x
